Sudan – the world's largest humanitarian crisis

    Sudan
Sudan – the world's largest humanitarian crisis

    What is happening in Sudan?

The war in Sudan began in April 2023. Nearly three years—1,100 days—have passed since then.

To us, this may be just another number on a screen, but for the people there, it means days and nights filled with fear, suffering and violence.

    An escalating humanitarian crisis

The humanitarian situation in Sudan is dire:

25 million people—almost one in two—are suffering from hunger. 10 million people have been displaced and forced to leave their homes.

More than 150,000 people have lost their lives. Some were killed in acts of violence. Others died of thirst while fleeing through the desert. Still others died from disease or the effects of hunger.    Those who remain mourn their loved ones. Some are waiting for relatives who disappeared while fleeing—and who may no longer be alive.

    No safe home—under constant threat

Instead of spending their days in warm, safe homes, people endure them in makeshift shelters made from scraps of fabric, without warm clothing or enough food. They live in fear of the next bombing, the next trauma, the next bout of hunger, the next death.

Our aid on the ground—over a year of support

For more than a year, we have been working on the ground in Sudan to provide vital emergency aid and save lives. Thanks to your incredible support, we have so far:

    🍽️ distributed 485,100 hot meals

    📦 provided 2,417 food parcels

👨‍👩‍👧‍👦 secured one month of essential support for 14,502 people

Every meal, every parcel and every person supported represents a life given a better chance through your help. These figures are more than statistics—they mean real aid and real hope.
