A New Beginning for Syria: Meeting with the Federal Minister

On 21 April 2026, we were invited to the annual meeting of the „Neuanfang für Syrien“ platform. Representatives from politics, civil society and international organisations came together to take stock: What has been achieved? And what more can still be done?

Of course, we were there too.

From the moment we arrived, it was clear that this was not just about strategies or declarations of intent. It was about tangible change – about people, initiatives and real impact on the ground. The discussions fostered new connections, shared ideas and a clear goal: to provide lasting support for Syria's reconstruction.

A special moment was the speech by Federal Development Minister Reem Alabali Radovan. She highlighted how much had been achieved through cooperation in such a short time – and shared an example that also reflects our work:

„There have also been many tangible successes: For example, Malek Alkoairi … connected with the NGO World of Peace through the platform. This led to the creation of the Syria Emergency Aid department, which he now heads. In this role, he organised, among other things, an aid delivery to a hospital in Damascus. (...) all within just one year, in a very short time. This aid reaches people in Syria directly, such as the deliveries to a hospital and the many other initiatives. “ she went on to say.

For us, this day showed once again what is possible when we work together.

Encounters become initiatives. Initiatives become tangible aid.

We are leaving this meeting not only with fresh ideas, but also with the motivation to continue on this path – together with you, strong partners and a clear focus on impact.
